friendship-a jewel!!!!

Friendship Day History

The National Friendship Day is celebrated every year on the first Sunday in August. There is not much history that can be garnered for this day except the fact that the US Congress proclaimed this day as the Friendship Day in the year 1935.

"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you." Matthew 7:7

“Greater love hath no man than this that a man lay down his life for his friends.” John 15:13-15

Thus speaks The Bible about the warmest of all bonds—friendship. The Bible, the most primary text of the western civilization, reflects upon friendship as the bond that forms the foundation to human faith, trust and companionship. There are innumerable tales from the Old Testament as well as the New Testament about the value of friendship and how true friendship is a treasure to unearth. Both the versions make a difference between the two broad meanings of friendship—one is a mere acquaintance, the other is a more affectionate relation. These stories and examples have passed into western literary and cultural realms. In the Old Testament Abraham is called the “friend of God” because of the intimacy of his relations. God speaks to Moses face to face “as a man…unto his friend” (Ex 33:11). The romantic friendship of Ruth and Naomi, the devotion of the subordinate Hushai for David, or the mutual relation between David and Jonathan—the Old Testament is replete with these interesting tales of friendship.

In the New Testament, the relationship between Jesus and his disciples is the most primal example of how human friendship can constantly grow. From being teacher and disciple to lord and servant their relationship finally grew to an unparalleled friendship.

Friendship Day Party Ideas

When friends are around and you’re all perked up to celebrate Friendship Day at full tilt, what’s a better way to do it other than throw a Friendship Day party ? So decide where to party, how to party, what to include in menu, what to play on the jukebox so on and so forth. Once that’s done, call up your buddies and just have your fling ! Now here are some Friendship Day party ideas for you to check out: First things first. Why not get the fun on with some funky invitation cards for your Friendship Day party ? Consider designing them with a funny cartoon, a few good jokes, and some nice quotes or with your own signature message straight from the heart. Make it as colorful and attractive as possible so that your cool pals can’t wait to drop in at your Friendship Day party ! Next decide the nature of your Friendship Day party. If it’s a day-party, your planning would be a little different from an overnight Friendship Day party, right ? To party through the day, a special Friendship Day cookout at your backyard is always a good idea, especially when it’s the season for the sizzling barbecues, cool lemonades and yummy hotdogs ! Picnicking would be yet another sprightly thought for your Friendship Day party, this again if you’re planning to party daytime. Fill up the picnic hamper with games and goodies and check out how wild ‘wild’ can be when friends are around ! Now if you prefer to party through the night, a Friendship Day dinner party is quite a smart thought to sweep your buds over. Hit your favorite joint with the entire gang, order what you enjoy the best and romp and chomp your way to a total upbeat and zesty fun-time on Friendship Day. Yet another starry idea for the party-freaks of the night is a sleepover party on Friendship Day. It’s quite popular with the kids, but the big ones enjoy it just as much. Or you can also invite your friends for a stargazing party this Friendship Day. For all those, who haven’t experienced what it is to lie under the starry night-sky and watch the stars with people you hold close, it’s definitely a top to-do thing, if not a must ! Once the kind of your Friendship Day party is fixed, start deciding on the menu. Cook up some lip-smacking delicacies this Friendship Day, or you can do it all together having assigned specific tasks to the specific pal-ly heads. Things done together are sometimes quite a thrill ! Try it out for once. Rent out some movies which give you all a special high. Be it a thriller or a sweet lovey-dovey romantic flick, your Friendship Day should be in sync with what you all enjoy. If your bunch fancy sports and games, plan up your Friendship Day party accordingly. Settle for an outdoor match or arrange for some fun indoor games. Announcing prizes for every participant witnesses a high rate of participation for obvious reasons. Who doesn’t like to be prized ? Of course we all do. But whoever wins or loses, you’re going to win hearts for sure! Games, grub alright. But don’t you think the Friendship Day party stays incomplete if you fail to grip your buds in the right rhythm ? So select the music with care. Decide what scores to play on your Friendship Day party. Soft numbers or fast beats ? The golden oldies or some new melodies off the racks ? You decide. It’s your party. Your friends. You will know the best. Keep the camera ready and keep capturing the precious moments on your Friendship Day party. You may not know the value of these pictures right now, but as the years pass, you’ll treasure them like never before !

Last but not the least, bind your buds in the friendship bond with the friendship bands. You can pick them up from the stores, or make them yourself. Many colorful friendship bands hit the stores much ahead of Friendship Day. Instead of the conventional wristbands, you can go for the friendship bracelets for your women friends. Give them these nice tokens of your love as you wish them all a ‘Happy Friendship Day’ in your Friendship Day party.

Now that all’s set for a grand fling, let your Friendship Day party kick off on a merry high with lots of food, fun, music, smiles and warmth ! Enjoy the wonderful togetherness this Friendship Day and party your tails off !

jobs+bacteria====was tht!!!!!!

-- A new survey shows which office-based jobs host the most bacteria.
Here is the list, going from careers with the most to least germs on workspace surfaces:
Teacher
Accountant
Banker
Radio DJ
Doctor
Television producer
Consultant
Publicist
Lawyer
University of Arizona microbiologist Charles Gerba, PhD, and colleagues did the dirty work. The Clorox Company funded the study and reported the results. These findings are part of a large research project by Gerba on "Germs in the Workplace."
Average bacteria per square inch of workspace surfaces ranged from 17,800 for teachers to 900 for lawyers, according to the report, which doesn't specify which bacteria were found.
4 Spots Where Bacteria Lurk
Phones are the workplace's top spots for bacteria, according to Gerba's team. Next are desks, computer keyboards, and computer "mice."
Many office workers eat at their desks, munching on lunch or snacking as they churn through their chores. That habit may be convenient, but it can be a bacteria magnet.
"Desks are really bacteria cafeterias," Gerba says, in the news release. "They're breakfast buffets, lunch tables, and snack bars, as we spend more and more hours at the office."
Still, Gerba's team found fewer bacteria in offices than they had in past studies. "We were pleased to find a decrease in bacteria levels," Gerba says, in a news release. "Perhaps people are becoming more aware of germs in their office and doing something about it."
Results from previous research from "Germs in the Workplace" found that when disinfecting wipes are used as directed, up to 99.9% of germs are eliminated.
Dirty Business
The researchers visited workers' offices, swabbing desks, phones, and computers for bacteria. They sampled an average of 11 cubicles or offices at each location, for a total of 616 surfaces.
Workers were told not to tidy up in advance. "In fact, they were asked not to alter their regular workday routines, from eating at their desks to cleaning," the report states.
There were some differences among the offices Gerba's team toured:
Teachers' phones, keyboards, and computer "mice" had the most germs.
Accountants' desks had the most germs of any desks sampled.
Lawyers had the least germy desks.
Publicists had the least germy phones.
Bankers had the least germy keyboards.
TV producers had the least germy computer "mice."
"Surfaces regularly used by teachers, accountants, and bankers harbored nearly two to 20 times more bacteria per square inch when compared to other professions," the report states.

SARS-GET AWAY!!!!!!!!!!

Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) is a respiratory disease in humans which is caused by the SARS coronavirus (SARS-CoV).[1] There has been one near pandemic to date, between November 2002 and July 2003, with 8,096 known infected cases and 774 deaths (a case-fatality rate of 9.6%) worldwide being listed in the World Health Organization's (WHO) April 21, 2004 concluding report.[2]
Mortality by age group as of 8 May 2003 is below 1 percent for people aged 24 or younger, 6 percent for those 25 to 44, 15 percent in those 45 to 64 and more than 50 percent for those over 65.[3] For comparison, the case fatality rate for influenza is usually around 0.6 percent (primarily among the elderly) but can rise as high as 33 percent in locally severe epidemics of new strains. The mortality rate of the primary viral pneumonia form is about 70 percent

a word abt nike!!!!!!

Nike's HeritageNIKE, pronounced NI-KEY, is the winged goddess of victory according to Greek mythology. She sat at the side of Zeus, the ruler of the Olympic pantheon, in Olympus. A mystical presence, symbolizing victorious encounters, NIKE presided over history's earliest battlefields. A Greek would say, "When we go to battle and win, we say it is NIKE." Synonymous with honored conquest, NIKE is the twentieth century footwear that lifts the world's greatest athletes to new levels of mastery and achievement. The NIKE 'swoosh' embodies the spirit of the winged goddess who inspired the most courageous and chivalrous warriors at the dawn of civilization. (from Nike Consumer Affairs packet, 1996)

The SWOOSH logo is a graphic design created by Caroline Davidson in 1971. It represents the wing of the Greek Goddess NIKE. Caroline Davidson was a student at Portland State University in advertising. She met Phil Knight while he was teaching accounting classes and she started doing some freelance work for his company. Phil Knight asked Caroline to design a logo that could be placed on the side of a shoe. She handed him the SWOOSH, he handed her $35.00. In spring of 1972, the first shoe with the NIKE SWOOSH was introduced.....the rest is history! (from Nike Consumer Affairs packet, 1996)

A brief history of NikeThe Nike athletic machine began as a small distributing outfit located in the trunk of Phil Knight's car. From these rather inauspicious beginnings, Knight's brainchild grew to become the shoe and athletic company that would come to define many aspects of popular culture and myriad varieties of 'cool.'
Nike emanated from two sources: Bill Bowerman's quest for lighter, more durable racing shoes for his Oregon runners, and Knight's search for a way to make a living without having to give up his love of athletics. Bowerman coached track at the University of Oregon where Phil Knight ran in 1959. Bowerman's desire for better quality running shoes clearly influenced Knight in his search for a marketing strategy. Between them, the seed of the most influential sporting company grew.
The story goes like this: while getting his MBA at Stanford in the early '60s, Knight took a class with Frank Shallenberger. The semester-long project was to devise a small business, including a marketing plan. Synthesizing Bowerman's attention to quality running shoes and the burgeoning opinion that high-quality/low cost products could be produced in Japan and shipped to the U.S. for distribution, Knight found his market niche. Shallenberger thought the idea interesting, but certainly no business jackpot. Nothing more became of Knight's project.
Cut to 1963. Phil Knight traveled to Japan on a world-tour, filled with the wanderlust of young men seeking a way to delay the inevitable call of professional life. Seemingly on a whim, Knight scheduled an interview with a Japanese running shoe manufacturer, Tiger--a subsidiary of the Onitsuka Company. Presenting himself as the representative of an American distributor interested in selling Tiger shoes to American runners, Knight told the businessmen of his interest in their product. Blue Ribbon Sports--the name Knight thought of moments after being asked who he represented--was born. The Tiger executives liked what they heard and Knight placed his first order for Tigers soon thereafter.
By 1964, Knight had sold $8,000 worth of Tigers and placed an order for more. Coach Bowerman and Knight worked together, but ended up hiring a full-time salesman, Jeff Johnson. After cresting $1 million in sales and riding the wave of the success, Knight et. al. devised the Nike name and trademark Swoosh in 1971.
By the late '70s, Blue Ribbon Sports officially became Nike and went from $10 million to $270 million in sales. Katz (1994) describes the success via Nike's placement within the matrix of the fitness revolution: 'the idea of exercise and game-playing ceased to be something the average American did for fun,' instead Americans turned to working out as a cultural signifier of status. Clearly, the circumstances surrounding the shift are not this simple; it is one of the aims of this project to discover other generators of popular attention to health.
If Nike didn't start the fitness revolution, Knight says, "We were at least right there. And we sure rode it for one hell of a ride" (Katz, 66). The 80s and 90s would yield greater and greater profits as Nike began to assume the appearance of athletic juggernaut, rather than the underdog of old. "Advertising Age" named Nike the 1996 Marketer of the Year, citing the "ubiquitous swoosh...was more recognized and coveted by consumers than any other sports brand--arguably any brand" (Jensen, 12/96). That same year Nike's revenues were a staggering $6.74 billion. Expecting $8 billion sales in fiscal 1997, Nike has targeted $12 billion in sales by the year 2000.
And all from the back of a car.
Few can question Nike's financial hegemony. But nearly $7 billion in revenues clearly begs the question, What sells these shoes? It is my assertion that Nike's power to sell comes from deep-rooted yearnings for cultural inclusiveness and individual athletic accomplishment. These seemingly paradoxical desires collide in consumers hearts and minds and produce the unyielding zeal for Nike shoes and apparel. Unfortunate effects of this zeal can be found in the rash of Nike apparel killings in 1991 and the profusion of Nike collectors and webpages designed around the company's products. Nike appeals to these disparate elements of Americans' personalities through an advertising philosophy that is, at once, simple and sublime. In addition, Nike's practice of top-level athletes promoting their products appeal to countless ages and creeds as a way to identify with and emulate their athletic heroes. These forces work powerfully upon the individual consumer, but one should not lose sight of the cultural context in which the individual moves.

DASAVATHARAM-A FLOP??????

Dasavatharam is the second dud in a row from Tamil film star Kamal Haasan.
If Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu (2006) was a bitter pill to swallow for Kamal Haasan’s fans, Dasavatharam is a bigger disappointment because of the heightened expectations raised by the ten roles Kamal plays in this movie.
An incomprehensibly mediocre movie, it’s a shame that Dasavatharam is the best that someone with 35+ years in the Tamil movie business can come up with.
A total mess of a story is compounded by a mostly so-so performance by Kamal Haasan (except in some roles like the Indian intelligence officer Balram Naidu, Patti and Rangaraja Nambi) and below par music.
Since Kamal Haasan also takes credit for the story, screenplay and dialogs in Dasavatharam, it’s only right that the major discredit for the movie should also accrue to this manga madaya (stupid fellow).
If the overall story - with the distracting side stories - is a jumbled mess, the dialogs are hopelessly banal. No life in them at all. Even a movie like Mozhi featuring a bunch of B-grade stars like Prakash Raj and Prithviraj had better dialogs.
Much of the movie centers around the efforts of a U.S.-based scientist Govind Ramasamy (Kamal Haasan’s primary role in the movie) desperately trying to safeguard a deadly germ vial (containing a strain of the Ebola virus?) and prevent it from falling into the hands of a really nasty element called Christian Fletcher (Kamal Haasan again).
The fight to grab the deadly vial that starts in the U.S. ultimately ends in India after many boring detours.
Some of the roles that Kamal plays in Dasavatharam like the activist Vincent Poovaraghan, George W.Bush, the singer Avtar Singh, the 7-ft tall Kalifulla Khan and the Japanese martial arts expert Shingen Narahashi were very poorly fleshed out. It was as if these characters were included just to hit the magic number of ten and justify the title of the movie. An example once again of the sloppy work by Kamal in the story department.
Makeup work for the many roles Kamal Haasan plays in Dasavatharam is a mixed bag. While the makeup was decent for the Indian RAW officer Balram Naidu, Rangaraja Nambi and Patti (grandma), it was sub-mediocre for some of the others, particularly Christian Fletcher and George Bush.
Mallika Sherawat’s pole dance number in Dasavatharam is one of the crudest and most disgusting dances we’ve had the misfortune to ever see in a long life. Plain awful. Even the late Silk Smita used to do a better job in these voluptuous dance scenes.
None of the songs had any magic in them. Himesh Reshammiya’s music failed to evoke much enthusiasm in the audience and several members of the audience at the Multiplex Cinemas in East Windsor (New Jersey) were walking out during the song/dance sequences.
One of the few saving graces of Dasavatharam was Asin Thottumkal’s performance. In her role as Andal, a conservative Brahmin girl from the temple town of Chidambaram as well as in an earlier brief appearance as Kothai, wife of a 12th century Vaisnavite devotee Rangaraja Nambi (Kamal Haasan), Asin brings some life to this dreary movie.
The other saving grace in Dasavatharam was the special effects, usually hopelessly crude in Tamil movies. Some of the Tsunami scenes as well as some of the action scenes were nicely done.
Dasavatharaam reminds us of all the weird things crazy people do just to get noticed or make it to the Guiness Book - eating 500 burgers, standing upside down for two days, walking backwards for three weeks, dancing on a buffalo’s back, fighting with a donkey or some other equally silly antic. Kamal Haasan tries a similar attention-grabbing gimmick - for the first time, 10 different roles in a movie. So what? It’s still a lousy movie and overall a bad freak show.
If a crappy fiasco like Dasavatharam is all that we can expect from Kamal Haasan after forking out $15 for a ticket, it’s time this dinosaur of the Tamil movie industry moves on to less taxing pursuits, like aadu, maadu maikara vela (a cowherd, grazing goats and cows).

CYBERERS....was tht

ASP.NET/C# is one of the best recommendation people would give. C# is the future language and programmers love it. It accelerates the development cycle, and the recommended language for the Web. There are plenty of examples.
Easiest tool for web app with MS SQL is ASP.Net with C# or VB.Net.But the catch is if the client ready to invest for Server license and mainintenanceThe other option is to go for jsp which is open source and doesnt require server licenses but application development would be slow so as maintenance.
Also look at ColdFusion : http://www.adobe.com/products/coldfusion/
If you are comfortable with javascript syntax, it won’t be difficult to pickup C#. If you are comfortable with VBScript, then it won’t be difficult to pickup VB.Net. There is a higher demand for C# developers than VB.NET in the job market.
If you’re an experienced developer or a manager, it helps to consider these, when choosing a platform:
Longetivity. How long is the technology valid?
Development cycle time.
Deployment time.
Compatibility issues with other OS.
a minimum of these. If you go by that, asp.net/C# is the future.
